Twiggs deputies issue 179 speeding citations during safety campaign
The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office says deputies also made four DUI arrests and responded to three crashes during the June 29-July 5 campaign.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office says deputies made four DUI arrests and issued 179 speeding citations during the Operation Zero Tolerance campaign from June 29 through July 5.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies conducted one speed enforcement detail, one seat belt and distracted driving detail and one sobriety road check.
The sheriff’s office says enforcement efforts also resulted in 16 seat belt violations, 13 child restraint violations, eight distracted driving violations, seven Move Over law violations and four arrests for suspended licenses.
Deputies also reported one reckless driver, one uninsured motorist violation, 82 other violations, two additional arrests and three crashes.
The sheriff’s office also released call and response numbers for Twiggs County 911 Communications during the same period.
According to the sheriff’s office, 911 operators answered and coordinated emergency traffic for 313 traffic stops, 16 medical calls, nine reckless driver calls, 11 domestic calls, six welfare checks, six vehicle lockouts, five suspicious vehicle calls and 22 civil papers served.
The sheriff’s office says operators also handled calls involving prisoner transports, alarms, thefts, warrant services, vehicle breakdowns, trees down, livestock out and other service calls.
