ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Foster families across Middle Georgia will have a chance to connect with resources and advocates during the “Fall in Love with Foster Care” Foster Parent Mini Conference.

In the Mix with Region 6 Foster Parent Association will host the conference Saturday, August 29, from 8 a.m. to noon at Camp Grace, 2559 Walker Chapel Road in Roberta.

The conference will include sessions focused on navigating the foster care court process, advocating for children in school, understanding Individualized Education Programs, or IEPs, and the foster parent grievance process.

Foster parents will also have an opportunity to ask questions during a DFCS open mic and Q&A session. Organizers say unanswered questions will be submitted to regional DFCS leadership for follow-up.

The event will also include community resources, networking, vendor tables, a silent auction and a Crawford County Fire Department fire truck display.

Organizers say the conference is designed to provide foster parent training hours while creating a space for families to learn, find support and build connections.

In the Mix with Region 6 Foster Parent Association supports foster, kinship and adoptive families throughout 11 Middle Georgia counties.
