Local political science professor weighs in on Trump impeachment

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The House impeached President Donald J. Trump for a second time Wednesday. This makes him the first President impeached twice.

Brooke Miller — political science professor at Middle Georgia State University— says even though the House has impeached the President, a move from Senator Mitch McConnell suggests the Senate will not act on the impeachment.

According to Miller, that may be the best move to unify the country.

“You do have those die-hard Trump supporters,” said Miller. “Just like you have people who really can’t stand the man. They think he’s the worst President we’ve had in history. Because of that, the question becomes what are we going to do to bring everyone together. And maybe not giving that platform is the way to go about it.”

Miller says if convicted, Trump loses his lifetime presidential privileges.
