Downtown Macon’s Famous Mike’s closes for good
The Poplar Street restaurant thanked customers and referenced late owner Mike Seekins, who died in June 2025.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Famous Mike’s of Macon has closed permanently, effective immediately, the downtown restaurant announced Monday.
“There’s no decent way of saying this but, Famous Mike’s is closed permanently, effective immediately,” the restaurant wrote on Facebook.
The post did not provide a reason for the closure. It thanked customers for supporting the Poplar Street restaurant for about eight years.
“We couldn’t have done it without you,” the post read. “We know Dad appreciates you all too.”
The restaurant’s owner, Mike Seekins, died in June 2025.
In 2021, Famous Mike’s introduced a “Pay it Forward” board that allowed customers to purchase meals for people who were hungry or homeless. Hundreds of meals were purchased during the program’s first two weeks, according to previous 41NBC reporting.
“I just hope that it sheds light on how many homeless people we have and just brightens somebody’s day,” Seekins said at the time. “No matter how much you can give, whether it’s one meal or 10 meals, it all works.”
