MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 31-year-old man is being held without bond after deputies say he set fire to a Case Street home while four children were inside.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 31-year-old Brandon Joshua Mallory on Tuesday afternoon in Jonesboro.

The fire was reported around 4:17 a.m. October 4 at a home in the 3900 block of Case Street.

Deputies met with a 36-year-old woman who lived there with her four children. According to the sheriff’s office, the woman reported receiving several text messages in which a former friend threatened to harm her and her children.

Investigators say the children were inside when the suspect set the home on fire and fled.

A 14-year-old girl and three boys, ages 13, 12 and 9, escaped without injuries. The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Investigators identified Mallory as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

Mallory was returned to Macon-Bibb County and taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

He is charged with arson, four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of first-degree cruelty to children and terroristic threats.

The sheriff’s office says Mallory was on parole when he was arrested.
