MONTEZUMA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man is in custody after police say he threatened an officer with a knife while officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant in Montezuma.

According to the Montezuma Police Department, an officer was patrolling the area of Willie James Street, also known as DeVaughn Avenue, on Friday when he saw 29-year-old Jason Robinson, who was known to have an active felony arrest warrant for terroristic threats related to an incident earlier that same day.

Police say when the officer tried to make contact, Robinson pulled out a knife, threatened to kill the officer and ran inside a home.

Additional officers from the Montezuma Police Department responded, along with deputies from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Oglethorpe Police Department.

Police say officers were able to persuade Robinson to exit the home after negotiations. He was taken into custody and then taken to the Macon County Jail in Oglethorpe.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.

Chief Eric Finch of the Montezuma Police Department said no one was injured and thanked assisting agencies and responding officers for their professionalism and swift response.
