Warner Robins teen sentenced to 10 years in prison without parole for armed robbery

Prosecutors say the teen pointed a firearm at a clerk during a late-night robbery.

HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Warner Robins teenager charged as an adult was sentenced to 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to armed robbery.

According to a news release from the Houston County District Attorney’s Office, 17-year-old Kemonte Jorquez Jordan pleaded guilty January 5 in Houston County Superior Court to armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Jordan was 16 years old at the time of the crime in September 2024 but was charged and prosecuted as an adult under Georgia law.

He was sentenced to 15 years, with the first 10 years to be served in prison without the possibility of parole, according to the release.

The district attorney’s office said the armed robbery happened in the early morning hours of September 17, 2024, at The Mystery Shop, located at 1319 Green Street in Warner Robins. Prosecutors said Jordan entered the store wearing a mask and demanded $100 from the overnight clerk.

According to the release, when the clerk initially refused, Jordan told the clerk he had a gun and then pulled out and pointed a firearm at the victim. The clerk gave Jordan $40 from the cash register, and Jordan fled the store.

Surveillance video showed Jordan entering the store and committing the robbery. Prosecutors said the footage also showed Jordan’s face before he put on a mask, which led to his identification and arrest.

According to the district attorney’s office, Jordan later confessed to the robbery during an interview, telling investigators he needed the money to get his cell phone fixed.

Because Jordan was a juvenile at the time of the offense, the district attorney’s office said it will not release a booking photograph.

“An armed robbery is a violent crime, regardless of the age of the person who commits it,” District Attorney Eric Edwards said. “Pointing a firearm at a store clerk in the middle of the night puts an innocent person’s life at real and immediate risk, and our community cannot tolerate that kind of violence.”
