Georgia AG: Two Guatemalan men charged in Fort Valley child trafficking case
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr says both suspects, Guatemalan nationals living illegally in the U.S., face human trafficking and rape charges.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two men are facing multiple charges after being arrested for trafficking a 14-year-old girl in Peach County.
In a news release on Monday, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr’s Office announced that 38-year-old Virgilio Gabriel Vasquez and 38-year-old Napoleon Hernandez Gomez, both from Guatemala and illegally living in the U.S., were arrested and charged with human trafficking, rape and child molestation.
According to the release, Vasquez is accused of arranging for the victim to perform commercial sex acts with Gomez in exchange for money. The victim is also from Guatemala.
“The consequences of illegal immigration are felt in every one of our communities, whether it’s human trafficking, gang activity or fentanyl,” Carr said. “It’s why we took action against the Biden administration to secure the border, and we’re fighting each day to keep Georgians safe. Our message is clear: if you abuse or exploit a child in this state, we will find you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Attorney General’s Office said Vasquez and Gomez were taken into custody on September 26 at their Fort Valley home by the Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit, with help from the Fort Valley Police Department, Peach County Sheriff’s Office, Byron Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
According to the release, Vasquez is charged with two counts of trafficking of persons for sexual servitude for benefiting financially and providing a minor for sexual servitude. Gomez faces three charges: trafficking of persons for sexual servitude, rape and child molestation.
