UPDATE: Man involved in fatal Crawford County car crash charged with vehicular homicide

ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Stockbridge man has been arrested for his involvement in a fatal Crawford County car crash which left two people dead.

Christopher Mark Thompson, 33, was denied bond when he appeared before Crawford County Magistrate Court Judge Richard Spencer Tuesday.

Thompson was released from the hospital on the same day of his first appearance court hearing.

The collision happened March 6, around 7:30 p.m. on Georgia Highway 42 South, according to Crawford County Sheriff Lewis Walker.

Thompson is charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle in the 1st degree, two counts of serious injury by vehicle, possession of an open container in vehicle passenger area, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane, reckless driving, speeding in excess of maximum limits, and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Sheriff Walker says 37-year-old Anna Reed of Doraville, Georgia was a passenger of Thompson’s. The Crawford County coroner Allen O’Neal pronounced her dead on the scene. 

Michael Malone, 23, of Warner Robins was a passenger in the other vehicle involved in the accident. Malone was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, where he later died.

A driving under the influence charge is pending for Thompson, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
