UPDATE: 11-year-old dies in Christmas car crash

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An 11-year-old girl is dead after she was thrown from inside a car in an accident on I-75 on Christmas night. 

Lakevia George was pronounced dead on Sunday. 

She and four other children, 4-year-old Brian Lawson Jr., 7-year-old Briana Lawson, 9-year-old Kameon Williams, and 12-year-old Lashonti Jones were ejected from the vehicle they were in near mile marker 150.

Two adults, the driver 38-year-old Brian Lawson and 33-year-old Jimmy Anderson, were also injured. 

All seven people were taken to the hospital. 

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

According to Byron Police, five children, aged 4, 7, 9, 11, and 12 years old, were all ejected from the vehicle. What caused the crash is still under investigation.
