Unemployment Rates Decline for Middle Georgia
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – There are more people heading to work in the area. The Georgia Department of Labor announced unemployment rates has declined in February for Macon, Middle Georgia, and Warner Robins.
The rates declined because there were a reduced number of new layoffs. Compared to January, Macon decreased to 7.5 percent in February, Middle Georgia decreased to 7.6 percent in February, and Warner Robins decreased to 6.4 percent in February,
There were almost three thousand claims for unemployment insurance filed in February. Most of the decline in claims came in trade, transportation, warehousing, administrative and support services, and construction sectors.
