Deputies: Dublin search leads to seizure of nearly 2 pounds of suspected fentanyl, nearly $20k in cash

The sheriff’s office says information developed during an earlier investigation involving Tireekca Taylor led agents to the storage facility.

DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Laurens County drug agents seized about 1.8 pounds of suspected fentanyl and $19,523 during a search of a Dublin storage facility, according to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.

In a post on Facebook, the sheriff’s office said the Laurens County Crime Suppression Unit executed the search warrant Tuesday.

Agents reported finding suspected powdered fentanyl and pressed pills believed to contain fentanyl. Investigators also seized cash they believe was connected to illegal drug activity.

According to the sheriff’s office, the search was part of an ongoing investigation that began with an earlier search warrant at the home of Tireekca Taylor.

The sheriff’s office says Taylor was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl and trafficking methamphetamine after agents reported finding about one ounce of suspected powdered fentanyl and five ounces of suspected methamphetamine pills.

Laurens County jail records show Taylor was booked October 13 and remains in custody.

The jail database lists three felony counts under Georgia’s drug-trafficking statute. It also lists charges of possession and use of drug-related objects, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and a probation violation.

The database does not identify the substance connected to each trafficking count. The sheriff’s office’s Facebook post did not say whether the storage facility search led to a new charge.

Investigators say information developed after the search of Taylor’s home led agents to the storage facility.

The sheriff’s office says the two searches resulted in the combined seizure of about 1.86 pounds of suspected fentanyl, five ounces of suspected methamphetamine pills and $19,523.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the sheriff’s office says additional charges are possible.
