(CNN)- Fiery testimony from a key witness highlighted the second day of the murder trial of Duane “Keefe D” Davis, who is charged in the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur.
James McDonald, the former head of security at Club 662, clashed at times with attorneys while testifying about the night Shakur was fatally shot in Las Vegas.
“You ask me something, I’m gonna be honest about it,” McDonald said. “You ask me something I don’t want to talk about? You’re gonna have a problem.”
McDonald ran security at Club 662, a Las Vegas nightclub operated by Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight.
Prosecutors say Shakur’s killing was part of an exchange of violence between the Crips and Bloods street gangs involving Davis’ nephew. McDonald testified about violence between the two gangs.
His testimony also drew laughter in the courtroom when he was asked how many members of his security team were on the payroll that night.
“Y’all do paperwork different than we did,” McDonald said. “Our paperwork was what they call under the table.”
Jurors also heard from Reggie Wright Jr., who was the official head of security for Death Row Records at the time of Shakur’s killing.
Davis has previously suggested Wright may have orchestrated the killing, an allegation Wright denies.
Jurors were also shown autopsy evidence Tuesday, including photos of the green bag that held Shakur’s body and a bullet fragment removed from his body.
Two members of Shakur’s family left the courtroom before the most graphic images were displayed.
