As you make plans for New Year's Eve celebrations, make plans to have a designated driver if you plan to drink. The Governor's Office of Highway Safety wants to remind you that there will be an increase of patrols and sobriety checkpoints during the holiday weekend.
Thanksgiving is two days away and many of you are already hitting the road. The Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) says this time of year is the busiest for roadways.
With scattered storms across Middle Georgia come slippery wet roads. Lieutenant Scott Davis with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office traffic division says pouring rain means something else pouring in on gloomy days.
“Statistically if you look at what causes accidents, it is predominantly driver behavior," said Georgia Department of Public Safety Commissioner Col. Mark McDonough. You'll probably be on the road heading somewhere this holiday season.
The Georgia State Patrol gets in the car just like you. "We want people to go enjoy this state," said Director Harris Blackwood with the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety. They're trying to keep you safe on the roads.
