Shoppers evacuated from Milledgeville Walmart after threats

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Shoppers at a Milledgeville Walmart were evacuated Monday morning after an unidentified caller threatened to burn the store down.

Major John Davis with the Milledgeville Police Department tells 41NBC a 911 call came in between 9 and 10 a.m. demanding that all ‘Blood Gang’ members be released from the Baldwin County Jail. If the demands weren’t met, then the caller said he’d burn the store down.

Shoppers were evacuated to the store’s parking lot while police officers and Walmart employees searched for clues inside the store. No one was injured.

Investigators didn’t find anything and traced the call to a disposable phone and haven’t identified a suspect. Davis says officers will continue to patrol near the Walmart area for precautionary measures.
