BS Report: Florida Vs. Georgia
Let’s talk about this Georgia Florida game now as we are three days away. Getting ready for the game in Atlanta this year of course. And it’s kind of a tale of two different teams. Florida coming off a very impressive win on the road at Texas 2724. You know they’ve got to feel good about themselves. They’ve got a five and two record.
And the dogs are coming off their first loss of the season, of course, when they lost by a field gold to Auburn in Athens ten days ago. So you know it’s going to be a little bit of a different look for both teams. Florida trying to build off that win and to keep their momentum going. And there’s no question they could define their season with a win over Georgia.
Considering the success the Bulldogs have had over them in the last couple of seasons. And of course, for Georgia, how are you going to respond? How are you going to bounce back after losing for the first time this season? Now, I’m not a gloom and doom guy when it comes to losing one football game. I do not believe that losing one game is the end of the world, especially in today’s college football.
Perfection in college football was never really realistic, even though sometimes you had to be perfect to win a national championship. Well, not even anymore. And there’s a real good chance that Georgia, could lose another game and still make the SEC Championship game. I wouldn’t be shocked if both teams in the SEC title game have two conference losses.
That’s how crazy this season has been so far, and we’ve got a lot of football left to go. So the dogs have to do some things, of course better, including taking care of the football. They had four turnovers against Auburn. That cannot happen against the Gators. You know Florida will be trying to do the same thing that Auburn did and to try to create turnovers and take advantage of that.
And Georgia cannot let that happen. So we’ll see how they kind of learn from what happened against Auburn. But also the offense I mean look Gunnar’s going to shake off the the fumble. He’s got to get back in rhythm. We’ve got to see these running backs of course with Nate Frazier and Dwight Phillips have a good duo and come out blazing.
Frazier play a little bit against Auburn but he looked rusty. So hopefully the extra time the extra week will give him more rest to prepare for these final, few games of the regular season and the postseason. And of course, Phillips has just been outstanding, but he needed a rest as well. If there’s one criticism of the offense, I would say, and I’m not a mike Bobo hater, that, might be good to get your tight ends a little bit more involved.
That’s a great group of receivers that I think has the potential to do more. So I’m anxious to see if that’ll be the case. But the dogs have got to take advantage of the fact that the Gators are 15th in scoring defense. This is a Florida defense that’s allowing 28.3 points per game. So Georgia’s offense has got to take advantage of that.
And on the flip side, of course we always know the defense has to play well. We’re not sure who’s going to play quarterback for Florida yet. Will it be Aaron Philo, the former Georgia Tech player, or will it be Tremmel Jones who played so well out in Austin? Either way, the dogs have got to deal with a very good running back in.
Jane Ball, who has 763 rushing yards, third best in the SEC. So they’ve got to contain him and try not to let that Florida running game get out of control. But it looks like a very good match up between these two teams. And again, how will Florida react to their great win over Texas? How will Georgia react coming back from their loss to Auburn?
They’ve had the week off. We’ll see how it goes, but it should be a great matchup on Saturday at 3:30 in Atlanta.
