SEGAMI Helps Uninsured Veterans
“Soldiers Empowerment Group Assisting Military Individuals” is also known as SEGAMI. It’s a non-profit organization that assists uninsured veterans who are struggling financially.
SEGAMI distributed it’s first healthcare grant on Monday outside of Mt. Olive CME Church in Fort Valley.
The recipient is retired Sgt. Ennis Grimes. Grimes said, “This organization helped me pay this bill that was hanging over me at the time. I didn’t know how I was going to be able to pay it, unemployed.”
Grimes was laid off due to lack of work and had a medical bill of more than 300 dollars. SEGAMI provides grants up to a thousand dollars to veterans meeting the requirements to receive grant funding.
