Macon basketball court dedicated to NBA Champion Corey Williams

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) —A Basketball Court At Kings Park Community Center in Macon was dedicated to NBA Champion Corey Williams on Wednesday.

He played for the Chicago Bulls alongside Michael Jordan early in his career before continuing his playing days overseas.

Throughout his career, Williams says he has remained connected to his Macon roots and credits the court at Kings Park Community Center with helping him become a better person and player.

Williams said the court is about giving young people a place to go.

“They say that kids don’t have places to go. Well, we’ve got to give them places to go. And this is a place where they can come and play basketball and learn how to be competitive, learn how to be a team player, and just grow, and have a place, an outlet,” Williams said.

Rain moved the ceremony indoors, but the mood stayed high for everyone in the building.

Family members spoke about Williams’ upbringing, and community leaders shared what it has been like to watch him flourish throughout his career.
