Martinu was named the SPHL/Easton Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday Feb. 21. Martinu picked up two wins for the Mayhem on the weekend, in his two starts.

Both wins came against Pensacola. The 6-foot-4, 200 pounder from St. Joachim, ON stopped 39 of 41 shots in a 6-2 win on Friday, and turned aside 22 of 23 shots in Saturday’s 3-1 victory. Martinu did not play in the Mayhem’s 4-2 loss at Fayetteville on Sunday.

For the weekend he had a 2-0-0 record with a 1.50 goals against average and .953 save percentage. Martinu becomes the second Mayhem player to be named Easton Player of the Week. Fellow goaltender Garrett Bartus won the award for the week that ended Sunday November 1, the second week of the season.

In another league development, SPHL officials announced a one game suspension of Mayhem right wing Travis Howe. He was assessed an instigator penalty at the end of the game on Sunday.

Any player who gets an instigation penalty in the final five minutes of regulation time or overtime  is suspended for the next game. Howe will not be able to play when the Mayhem visits the Mississippi RiverKings on Friday.

The league also finalized trades the Mayhem made at the league trading deadline on Monday. Macon acquired defenseman Nicholas Kuqali from Louisiana and continued his loan to Adirondack of the ECHL. Macon also acquired center Mark Rivera from Pensacola, completing an earlier transaction.
Macon also loaned Jackson Brewer to Evansville of the ECHL and waived defenseman Cameron Yarwood.
