Victim flown for treatment after Tuesday shooting in Cochran

Police responded at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday. The GBI and Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One person was flown for treatment after a shooting Tuesday afternoon near Johnson Street, according to the Cochran Police Department.

Police said in a news release Tuesday night that officers were dispatched at 5:40 p.m. after a report that someone had been shot. They arrived and found a female victim with a gunshot wound, according to the release.

Cochran police, the Cochran Fire Department and Heartland EMS provided aid before she was flown for further treatment.

The release did not identify the victim or provide her age or condition.

The Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation are assisting Cochran police with the investigation.
