MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon-Bibb County is expanding its Paving the Way program with a countywide sidewalk and accessibility ramp analysis.

Macon-Bibb County said in a news release Tuesday that it contracted with Citylogix in April to assess about 350 miles of sidewalk and more than 7,500 accessibility ramps across the county.

The ramp assessment began in May, and the county says the sidewalk and ramp analysis is expected to be finished by the end of July.

“This work helps us better understand what we have and where we need to go,” Mayor Lester Miller said. “It’s about making our community safer and more accessible for everyone.”

According to the county, StreetScan will use advanced technology and mapping tools to create a detailed sidewalk inventory.

Citylogix is using an e-scooter-based system with high-resolution imaging, GPS and mobile data collection to identify sidewalk issues, including cracks, surface distortions, uplifts and tree uplifts.

The county says the data will be used to assign each sidewalk an overall condition rating on a scale of 0 to 100, with 0 being the worst condition and 100 being the best.

Macon-Bibb County says the information will help guide future planning and investments.

The county says it also worked with Citylogix to analyze city-owned paved streets as part of the Paving the Way program.

Since the roadwork began in summer 2025, Macon-Bibb says 890 segments of 356 roads have been repaved, covering 120.1 miles.
