MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon man has been sentenced to 50 years, with 20 to serve in prison, after pleading guilty in connection with a 2021 killing, according to the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

33-year-old Jerome Dewayne Beasley pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and concealing the death of another as jury selection was underway, according to a news release.

According to the district attorney’s office, the charges stem from the death of 26-year-old Amond Norwood in May 2021. Prosecutors say a fight at a home on May Avenue escalated into a shooting.

Investigators say Norwood’s body was found on Churchill Street under a mattress. Evidence later led them to a second location on Edwards Street, where his body had been burned.

The district attorney’s office says two co-defendants were also charged in the case.

Margaton Dudley pleaded guilty April 10 and is awaiting sentencing, while Damion Felton, who had been released on bond, was killed shortly after his release. That case remains under investigation.

“Conflict over a dice game between rival gang members is rarely going to end well for anyone,” Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney Anita Howard said. “We are committed to holding people
accountable for breaking the law, regardless of how dangerous their lifestyles are. This is a tragedy that could have been avoided.”
