Knights men beat Brewton-Parker 84-75

COCHRAN, Georgia (MGAKNIGHTS.COM) – The Knights are making waves in their first year in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) and have moved to 5-4 and the 5th spot in the standings after a win over Brewton Parker (4-5) on Thursday night. The Knights defeated their closest geographical rival Brewton Parker 84-75 to move to 7-6 (7-10 counting exhibitions) on the season overall.

The Knights and Barons were tied 3 times in the game with the last coming at the 16:05 mark in the first half at 7 all. The Knights went on a 17-4 run over the next 3:31 to take a 13 point lead at 24-11. The Knights held the Barons at bay for most of the first half leading by as many as 14 before the Barons cut the lead to 5 at half time. The Knights opened the second half with a 9-4 run to extend the lead to 10 early extending the lead to as many as 21 with 11:06 remaining in the game. The Barons came as close as 8 with just under a minute remaining but could get no closer as the Knights added a free throw to win by 9.

The Knights had their best shooting game of the season shooting 54% in the first half from the field and 50% for the game. Alyja Hennings (JR/Alphareta, GA) led the team in scoring with 17 and had 2 blocks. Brandon Ingleton (SO/Queens, NY) added 16 points and 9 rebounds to go with 2 steals. Seth Coleman (JR/Columbia, SC ) added 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks. Joseph Fogg (SO/Atlanta, GA) tied his season high with 11 points and also had 2 blocks. The Knights leading scorer on the season, Ryan Wilkins (SO/Savannah, GA), ended up with 9 points and 2 blocks. The Knights had their highest block total of the year with 9 for the team.

The Knights next game is this Saturday the 24th at 4 PM at College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, GA following the women at 2 PM. The men and women return home on the 29th to face SSAC leader Martin Methodist at 5:30 PM for women, 7:30 PM for men then on Saturday the 31st at 1PM and 3PM against Auburn University at Montgomery. The Knights will spend all of February on the road until returning home for the season finale on February 28th at 2:00 PM for the women and 4:00 PM for the men hosting College of Coastal Georgia.
