Kmart in Macon set to close in 2018

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Kmart in Macon is among the stores that are set to close next year. Sears Holdings says it told its employees Thursday that 45 Kmart stores and 18 Sears stores will close in late January 2018.

The company says it wanted the stores to be open for customers during the holiday season.

The store in Macon is located on Tom Hill Senior Boulevard. The Kmart in Tifton and a location in Dalton are also set to close.

Employees who are eligible will receive severance and will have the chance to apply for open positions at other locations.

Liquidation sales are expected to begin as early as November 9th.
