FVSU opens preseason camp

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Fort Valley State Wildcats opened camp with an early morning practice Monday.

The ‘Cats got back into the rhythm of things by hitting the field for just over two hours.

“It is an exciting time,” said head coach Donald Pittman in a school release. “After doing paper work and recruiting all year, now comes the good part, hitting the field and doing some coaching.”

Pittman says the team focused on pass protection over the summer, while working on old offensive plays and adding new ones. The team’s defense and special teams are strong heading into 2015, he says, but there’s still some work to do on offense.

FVSU will practice from 7:00-9:20 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday before holding its first scrimmage Saturday at 6 p.m.
