Fort Valley State relying on defense in 2014

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Football kicks off this week for most college football teams, but Fort Valley State fans have to wait until next weekend.

The Wildcats just held their first scrimmage Saturday, braving the near-100 degree temperatures for their first practice in pads.

Coach Donald Pittman, entering his sixth season at FVSU, says the ‘Cats are counting on defensive returners like LeRon Furr and Bernard Little to carry them this year.  For a team coming off a four-win season, success this year starts with keeping with the team’s theme of being ‘undeniable.’

“Nothing can stop us–no matter how big the challenge,” Pittman says.  “Nor how many obstacles, we are going to be undeniable.  We plan on winning and winning in a big way.”

FVSU hosts Delta State Saturday, September 6 at 2 p.m.
