Former Bear Coursey makes 2015 NBA Summer League debut with Orlando Magic
Coursey finished with four points on 2-for-4 shooting from the field, while adding three rebounds in just under 22 minutes of action during the team’s 73-65 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He is joined on the team by NBA Draft first round selections Aaron Gordon, Mario Hezonja and Elfrid Payton.
Orlando Blue continues play this afternoon against the Memphis Grizzlies, before wrapping up the Orlando Pro Summer League schedule on Thursday afternoon versus the Indiana Pacers. The Orlando Summer League will conclude on Friday, July 10 with the championship round.
Coursey is making his second NBA Summer League appearance, after competing for the Boston Celtics last summer. The 2013-14 Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year averaged 10.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game to lead the Bears to the 2013-14 A-Sun title and the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament victory with an upset of Duke.
He is the second Mercer men’s basketball alum to make headlines as a professional in the last week, as his former teammate Langston Hall signed with Italy’s Serie A member, Pallacanestro Cantu earlier this month.
The Orlando Pro Summer League is televised live on NBA TV, while fans are also able to watch every game live on NBA.com and on the NBA Game Time app.
