REYNOLDS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Flint Energies has named longtime employee Todd Bigler its new CEO, effective December 1.

The cooperative’s Board of Directors announced the appointment Wednesday.

Bigler will succeed Jeremy Nelms, who has led Flint Energies since October 2020.

Nelms announced his resignation in July after being selected as the next president and CEO of Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation.

41NBC reported in August that Nelms planned to remain with Flint Energies through January 27, 2027. Wednesday’s release does not explain if that tmeline has changed or what role Nelms will hold after Bigler takes over December 1.

Bigler currently serves as Flint Energies’ vice president of technology, a position he has held since January 2021.

He began working for the cooperative as an entry-level help desk technician in 2008 and advanced through its technology department.

In his current role, Bigler provides technical guidance for Flint’s enterprise application systems and operations technology. He also oversees the cooperative’s $97.5 million fiber infrastructure deployment.

Bigler has led Flint’s strategic planning process since 2018 and serves as lead facilitator for its employee mentoring program.

“We are eager to have Todd serve Flint in this new capacity,” board Chairman Neal L. Talton said. “His institutional knowledge of Flint and the electric industry, especially in the realm of information technology, will lead us into the future. The Board looks forward to continuing working with Todd to provide our members with the best service possible.”

Bigler graduated from Northside High School in Warner Robins. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Valdosta State University and a bachelor’s degree in information technology from Macon State College.

He lives in Perry with his wife, Kesha, and their five children.

“I am deeply honored by the trust placed in me to serve as President and CEO,” Bigler said. “Having spent the past 18 years working alongside our employees, board, and members, I understand both the responsibility and opportunity this role represents.”

Flint Energies is a member-owned electric cooperative serving more than 100,000 meters in parts of 17 Middle Georgia counties. The cooperative employs 220 people.
