Flint Energies CEO Jeremy Nelms to leave for Sawnee EMC

Nelms has led the Middle Georgia electric cooperative since October 2020 and will remain with Flint through January 27, 2027.

REYNOLDS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Flint Energies President and CEO Jeremy Nelms has resigned after being selected to become the next president and CEO of Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation.

Nelms announced his resignation during Flint Energies’ July board meeting, according to a news release sent Monday. He will continue working for Flint until January 27, 2027.

Nelms has led the electric cooperative since October 2020. Flint said he is the sixth CEO to manage the organization since it was founded in 1937, although several men served as general managers during its early years.

“Flint is fortunate to have Jeremy Nelms as CEO,” Flint Energies Board Chairman Neal Talton said. “He has led Flint during some significant challenges over recent years, including a pandemic, a fiber network build and our new Service Center build. We will certainly miss his leadership at the helm of this growing system and his enthusiasm for the cooperative difference. We are grateful for his tenure here and wish him and his family much happiness.”

Nelms has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the electric cooperative industry in Georgia and Florida.

Before joining Flint Energies, he served as executive vice president and general manager of Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Corporation. He has also led infrastructure and broadband projects at both cooperatives and served in statewide cooperative leadership roles.
