Fire destroys majority of north Macon home, no one injured
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Firefighters in Macon spent Monday afternoon putting out a house fire in north Bibb County.
Response teams got to the call a little after noon.
Captain Michael Stone, with the Macon-Bibb Fire Department, says a man was inside the home on Kentucky Downs Road when he noticed the fire, and that’s when he called 911.
“It took us about 20 minutes to get it under control, but the fire initially started from the back on the first floor and it worked its way up to the second floor into the attic. It got into the attic and burned the roof off of it,” Stone said.
Captain Stone went on to say the fire destroyed about 60% of the home.
Since the house was near the county line, both Monroe and Bibb firefighters were on the scene.
No one was injured.
