Broadway star returns home to share lessons with Central High students

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon native turned Broadway star, paid her old stomping grounds a visit Monday morning.

Sasha Hutchings, Hamilton cast member, held a theater and dance workshop for students at Central High School. Hutchings graduated from Central in 2007 and wanted to come back to give students some tips.

Hutchings taught students choreography to Hamliton’s ‘My Shot’, but she also wanted them to incorporate their own style.

She says it brings her joy to see students in the same place she was years ago. She wants them to know anything is possible.

“Coming back to teach, you see this whole plan that’s unfolded and I think my passion is to be able to say, ‘if you want it, it’s available there are pathways for you and to be sort of proof that it can happen’,” said Hutchings.

Hutchings currently lives in New York where she continues her Broadway and television career.  You can catch her making an appearance on shows like, Jessica Jones.
