Body found in trailer fire in Monroe County

JACKSON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly fire.

Crews responded to an 18-wheeler trailer fire on Pine Road in Jackson around 5:15 Monday morning. According to the sheriff’s office, the trailer was being used as a living area.

Deputies confirm a man was living in the trailer at the time of the fire. Crews found his body inside the fire.

At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated.

The body is being sent to the GBI lab for positive identification.

According to Brandon Wright from the Georgia Department of Insurance, they believe the fire was caused by a space heater.
