American Red Cross of Central Georgia willing to help South Carolina victims

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The American Red Cross of Central Georgia is ready to help victims in South Carolina.

Disaster Program Specialists Larry Miller explained the chapter has put a call out to its volunteers to see if anyone is willing to go help, but South Carolina has to ask for assistance first. South Carolina is already asking for assistance from other states after a storm hit last week and caused severe flooding.

“Right now, we’re looking for like some health services and mental health personnel. If we had any mental health personnel that wanted to deploy, they’d go into the system and activate it and try to get out the door to support South Carolina,” said Miller.

The American Red Cross provides various assistance to victims including shelter, food and counseling. To register as a volunteer with the organization click here
