Summers returns to Mayhem after short stint last season

MACON, Georgia (MACON MAYHEM RELEASE) – The Macon Mayhem and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kerr announced today the signing of veteran forward Matt Summers.

“Matt brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the team. He plays old school hockey and doesn’t mind getting to the dirty areas,” said Kerr. “He’s going to be a huge asset to the Mayhem.”

The 30-year-old forward from Savage, Minnesota played four games for the Mayhem last season for the Mayhem, while also playing 48 games for the Peoria Rivermen. With Peoria, Summers scored 12 goals and recorded 16 assists for a total of 28 points.

Throughout his nine-year professional hockey career, Summers has played in both the Central Hockey League (CHL) and the SPHL, tallying 145 goals and recording a plus-minus of plus-68 over his pro hockey career. The Mayhem expect Summers to be one of the main leaders on the team this season.

The Macon Mayhem kick off their second season at the Macon Coliseum on Friday, October 21st against the Columbus Cottonmouths! Single game tickets are now on sale through the Macon Mayhem Front Office or the Macon Coliseum Box Office.
