Multi-million dollar veterans center opens in Warner Robins
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Terry Hamilton served 26 years in the Air Force and felt it was his duty to work at the new VECTR Center in Warner Robins.
“I jumped. I was at the university for 10 years and this chance came open, I had to go, I just had to be a apart of it,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton is the Testing Center Manager at the new facility. Just one of the many positions filled by veterans.
The VECTR Center offers classes, workshops, counseling, and support for veterans, current military personnel, and family members. It cost 10 million dollars to build the facility, which is state-of-the-art.
“Our job is to make sure that those that have served our country well, that we utilize their strengths and talents that they bring to the table so that they can leverage them in the private sector,” Dr. Joseph C. Richardson, Assistant Director at the VECTR Center said.
Hamilton says this facility isn’t a handout, but a deserving reward for servicemen and women.
“We have almost 15,000 homeless veterans in the state of Georgia,” Hamilton said. “We are near the top in that category so this is a one-stop-shop that we’re trying to make.”
The building opened after a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday.
