Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials Meet in Macon

The city of Macon is hosting the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials (GABEO) conference this weekend.

Black elected officials from across the state will be in the city for the weekend for seminars and speaking engagements.

The conference will also allow members of the community to ask questions and voice their concerns to elected officials about the way state and local governements are run. 

GABEO will address issues they have concerning ethics, redistricting, as well as voter registration and education.

Organizers say this weekend’s events are a way for African American indivduals to see and relate with African American leaders.

According to William Cannon, Executive Director of Black Constructors Association, this weekend will hopefully bring solutions to concerns within the community.

“What is good for the African American community is good for the state of Georgia. So as we try to improve the quality of life, in our communities, we will equally improve the quality of life for all Georgians,” Cannan said.

The conference runs now through Sunday with events happening around the city.
