Medical Center of Central Georgia Gets Grant to Help Heart Patients

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Medical Center of Central Georgia will soon offer services to heart patients to help keep them out of the hospital.

The Medical Center, along with the Aging and Disability Resource Center in Middle Georgia, won a $50,000 grant. The money will go towards offering on-site counseling services to patients. The idea is to figure out what they need to get healthy and stay out of the hospital.

“If they need home delivered meals, if they need homemaker services, respite services, personal care which would be bathing and dressing or if they had discussions on what actually they do need so they can stay in their community and stay healthier and not end up back in the hospital,”Julie Hall, Aging Services Manager for the Middle Georgia Regional Commission, said.

The new service is scheduled to kick off on Thursday. If all goes well, the hospital hopes to keep it going.
