Macon traffic stop leads to rifles, marijuana arrests
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says investigators recovered a Radical AR-15 rifle, a Draco rifle, 118 rounds of ammunition, cash and suspected marijuana.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Two men were arrested after investigators found firearms, ammunition and marijuana during a traffic stop in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says the arrests happened Tuesday during a crime suppression detail.
According to the sheriff’s office, an investigator stopped a Honda Accord on Northside Drive for a suspended registration and defective headlight.
The vehicle continued a short distance before stopping on Alexander Avenue.
The sheriff’s office says the investigator smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle while speaking with the people inside.
The driver and passenger were removed while investigators searched the vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators and Patrol Division deputies recovered a Radical AR-15 rifle, a Draco rifle, 118 rounds of ammunition, cash, a gallon-sized bag containing a green leafy substance, a black backpack containing a large amount of a green leafy substance, multiple small baggies containing suspected marijuana residue and a digital scale.
The sheriff’s office identified the driver as 22-year-old Marvin Gainey Jr. and the passenger as 20-year-old Ronald Smith.
Both were arrested and taken to the Bibb County Jail.
Gainey is charged with purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.
Smith is charged with purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.
