Band of the Week: Mount de Sales Academy

This week’s 41NBC Band of the Week spotlight shines on Mount de Sales Academy.

The Mount de Sales Academy marching band is taking audiences on a musical journey through the ages with this year’s video game-themed show.

“We have video games from all through the ages, from Pokémon and Mario to Zelda,” said Rosalyn Simpson, marching band director at Mount de Sales Academy.

The students have been working hard to bring the show to life, putting in the effort even while facing the challenges of practicing in the heat and limited opportunities to rehearse outdoors.

“They’re doing a really great job so far,” Simpson said.

This season is also bringing an exciting milestone for the band. At the end of the month, Mount de Sales will compete for the first time in several years.

“We haven’t done a competition in quite a few years, so it will be exciting,” Simpson said.
