Deputies: Burglary suspect caught hiding in Macon Krystal bathroom

Investigators connected Kenyon Clayton to cases involving Northern Tool & Equipment, Kroger, Hibbett Sports and Home Depot, according to the sheriff’s office.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 23-year-old man faces burglary and shoplifting charges after Bibb County deputies say he ran from them and tried to hide inside a restaurant bathroom Friday morning.

Deputies say they spotted Kenyon Malik Clayton walking along Eisenhower Parkway near Bloomfield Road shortly after 10:15 a.m.

The sheriff’s office says Clayton was a suspect in recent shoplifting cases in the area. When deputies approached him,  they say he ran and tried to hide in the bathroom at the Krystal on Bloomfield Road.

Deputies took Clayton into custody and took him to the Criminal Investigation Division for questioning.

With help from the U.S. Marshals and Kroger management, investigators say they connected Clayton to a burglary at Northern Tool & Equipment at 4755 Ivey Drive and shoplifting cases at Kroger, Hibbett Sports and Home Depot in Eisenhower Crossing.

Clayton is charged with two felony counts of theft by shoplifting, one misdemeanor count of theft by shoplifting and one count of second-degree burglary.

He is being held without bond at the Bibb County Jail. The sheriff’s office says additional charges are pending.
