Mary Persons holds ribbon-cutting for finished fieldhouse project
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Friday nights will look and feel a whole lot different when the Bulldogs take field this summer at Dan Pitts Stadium.
Faculty and students gathered Thursday on the football field at Mary Persons High School to celebrate a project years in the making. The $20 million dollar project, including the renovated visitors’ side and the new entrance plaza was funded through ESPLOST collections.
“The whole goal is to give kids the best opportunity to be successful, and this is just a step in that direction,” Bulldogs Head Football Coach Brian Nelson said. “At the end of the day that’s the goal of all this; giving kids, athletes, and players the best opportunity, and they’re going to have that in this building, and we’re excited about it.”
“Ultimately it just brings the city of Forsyth together,” senior linebacker Madox Burnsed added. “Everybody gathers together for Friday night, ultimately to celebrate the county, and city, so we can win football games, so I just think it’s going to be a big thing for all my teammates.”
The Bulldogs’ first home game takes place on September 4th against Rockmart.
