UPDATE: Lockdown lifted for Bibb schools

Porter Elementary School, Rutland Middle School and Rutland High School were under a precautionary lockdown as authorities conducted a search in the surrounding community.

MACON, Georgia (WMGT/DT)- Porter Elementary School, Rutland Middle School and Rutland High School are currently under precautionary lockdowns as authorities conduct a search in the surrounding community, according to the Bibb County School District.

School officials say that during a precautionary lockdown, instruction continues as normal inside classrooms, but movement throughout the building is restricted as a safety measure.

At this time, all students and staff are reported safe. Officials say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
