Perry woman sentenced to prison in Houston County meth trafficking case
Prosecutors say nearly 200 grams of meth were seized during a 2023 narcotics investigation.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Perry woman has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to methamphetamine trafficking charges.
According to Houston County District Attorney Eric Edwards, 39-year-old Kristin Nicole Smith pleaded guilty Monday to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute in Houston County Superior Court.
A judge sentenced Smith to 20 years, with the first 12 years to be served in prison, according to the district attorney’s office.
The case stems from a 2023 investigation by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division. Prosecutors say investigators used a confidential source to conduct a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Smith at her home in February 2023.
After that transaction, law enforcement obtained and executed a search warrant, according to the district attorney’s office. During the search, deputies reported finding large quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, pricing ledgers and cash matching funds used in the controlled buy.
Prosecutors say Smith admitted knowing the methamphetamine and marijuana were inside her home. The district attorney’s office says the total amount of methamphetamine seized was 191.246 grams.
“This sentence reflects the seriousness of that conduct and the danger posed by high-level drug distribution,” Edwards said, addingthat his office will continue pursuing accountability for drug-related crimes.
