UPDATE: Man found with gunshot wound in south Macon identified

According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the Economy Hotel on Pio Nono Avenue just before 7:30 p.m.

UPDATE: (10:08 p.m.) – The victim has been identified as Travon Maurice Harden of Macon. According to Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley, the next of kin has been notified.

There were no other injuries reported.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A man is dead after being shot on Tuesday night it South Macon.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Economy Hotel on Pio Nono Avenue just before 7:30 p.m.

That’s where deputies the found a man in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Paramedics then responded to the scene and took the victim to the hospital for treatment, but medical staff say he died from his injuries.

The victim has not been identified at this time, although Macon-Bibb County Cornoer Leon Jones confirms the man was 26-years-old.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says investigators are currently on scene working to determine what led up to the shooting, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
