MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A former correctional officer cadet pleaded guilty in federal court after Georgia Department of Corrections officers found several packages of “pure” methamphetamine hidden in his clothing as he tried to enter Dooly State Prison.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia, 29-year-old Julius Deshawn Williams Jr. of Bonaire pleaded guilty Monday to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. A sentencing date will be set later.

According to the news release, Williams was a cadet in training at Dooly State Prison. On June 24, 2024, Georgia Department of Corrections officers conducting an entry shakedown found four taped packages of methamphetamine hidden in his pants. Officers then searched his vehicle and found four additional taped packages and a pistol.

Prosecutors said Williams admitted he planned to take the drugs to an inmate. In total, the packages contained 640 grams of methamphetamine with 100 percent purity, according to the release.
