Baldwin County school board approves $865,000 land sale to GCSU
The district will retain the remaining acreage and plans to list it for commercial sale so it can return to the county’s tax digest.
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Baldwin County Board of Education has approved the sale of more than 15 acres of former Georgia State Patrol property to Georgia College & State University for $865,000, according to the school district.
The property is located at 139 Georgia Highway 49. The sale includes the former GSP building.
According to a news release from the Baldwin County School District, the district purchased more than 22 acres at the site in 2017. The district says at the time, the purchase helped the Georgia State Patrol move into a new facility while keeping a state law enforcement presence in the county.
The district originally considered using the property for school construction. It says renovations and changes at existing schools have since allowed it to meet its facility needs without building at the site.
The district says GCSU’s purchase will support growth at its West Campus. The property is also being considered as a location for active first responders.
