MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The odds for scattered afternoon showers and storms will drop as Bertha pushes west in the Gulf.

This Evening

Another wave of showers has been pushing north around Middle Georgia this afternoon. A few more showers and storms will remain possible through the evening, however overnight rain is not expected. Temperatures will valley in the low to mid 70s as the wind continues from the south at 4-12 mph. Gusts could still reach as high as 20 mph at times as Bertha continues to spin to the southwest. Cloud cover should be limited overnight as well.

Tomorrow

Temperatures should be a bit hotter Wednesday as the rain chances drop courtesy of Bertha moving further west. Temperatures should reach the mid 90s for much of the region with real feels getting over 100 for most if not all of the region. A few showers or perhaps a storm will still be possible over the latter half of the day. It will also be a breezy afternoon with sustained speeds ranging from 5-15 mph and gusts again likely pushing 20 mph from the south.

Overnight the wind should slow and clouds from the afternoon should largely clear out. Temperatures will valley in the low to mid 70s around Middle Georgia once again.

Thursday and Beyond

A slow moving front from the north will increase rain odds leading into the weekend, however the odds for Thursday have dropped. Expect a gradual drop with temperatures with highs likely back in the 80s come this weekend. The drop in temperature will coincide with an increase in cloud cover and storm odds.
