GEICO’s Macon campus cleared after false bomb threat Tuesday
Deputies say the threat was made Tuesday night, leading to a sweep of all GEICO buildings in Macon.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A bomb threat at the GEICO campus in Macon Tuesday led to a response from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, but investigators determined the call was a hoax.
Capt. Linda Howard with the sheriff’s office confirmed a bomb threat was made just before 6 p.m. She said deputies responded and all buildings were checked and cleared.
“No bomb was found, and this call was determined to be false,” she said. “The incident is under investigation.”
A GEICO spokesperson referred 41NBC to the sheriff’s office for comment.
This report follows a string of similar incidents both nationally and in Middle Georgia. On Tuesday, hoax active shooter calls were made to Central Georgia Technical College in Macon and to Rutland High School. On Wednesday, Mercer University in Macon also received a hoax active shooter call.
