MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Two males, including a juvenile, have been arrested in connection to two shootings that happened in Macon on April 21 and May 1, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
17-year-old Lucius Montrell Character and a male juvenile were taken into custody on May 7. Deputies recovered two firearms, including one that was reported stolen, along with tools commonly used to break into and steal vehicles, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
According to incident reports, the May 1 shooting happened at 1842 Oglesby Place. Seven victims, including five minors, were listed. Deputies wrote that shots were fired into the home while the victims were sleeping. No injuries were reported.
A responding deputy wrote in the report that one of the victims said her ex-boyfriend and two others were responsible for the shooting. She also told investigators the same group had shot at her new boyfriend’s home prior to that night. Deputies collected shell casings and documented the damage.
The April 21 shooting happened at 2403 Felton Avenue. Five victims were listed in that case, with four of them minors. A woman told deputies she was asleep when she heard gunfire and yelled for her four children to take cover. Investigators found multiple bullet holes in the front of the home and recovered 42 shell casings from the scene.
The woman told deputies she believed the shooting may have been related to her son’s relationship with a new girlfriend who had a jealous ex-boyfriend.
At the time, the suspects in the Felton Avenue shooting were listed as unknown. The sheriff’s office later confirmed the arrests and said the investigation is ongoing. Additional charges are pending.
