Woman dies in explosion at Tyson Foods poultry plant in Camilla
Explosion at Tyson Foods plant in Camilla, Georgia, kills woman and injures several workers. Authorities investigate cause.

CAMILLA, Georgia (CNN/WALB)- An explosion occurred overnight at the Tyson Foods poultry plant in Camilla, Georgia, resulting in the death of a woman and multiple injuries. The victim, the wife of a truck driver, was in the sleeper compartment of her husband’s semi-truck when the explosion took place. A wall collapsed on top of her during the incident.
Union officials report that a boiler exploded late Thursday night, and the resulting fire burned into the early morning hours. Heavy machinery was brought in on Friday to recover the victim’s body, and workers continue to assess the damage.
In addition to the fatality, several workers were badly burned and injured. Chelsea Connor, Communications Director for the Union, shared the ongoing efforts to provide support. “We are working to ensure that injured workers have all the resources they need, both physically and mentally,” she said. The union represents approximately 1,600 workers at the facility and has been part of the Camilla community for over 50 years.
Tyson Foods issued a statement confirming that a full investigation into the cause of the explosion will be conducted. The company is working with local authorities to determine what led to the tragic incident.
